Participation

 

Eligibility for participation are:

  1. Nomination must be made by the company where the workers are employed
  2. Workers MUST have clean records with the company that nominates them.
  3. Workers MUST be free from any records of offences in Malaysia.
  4. Workers MUST have valid work permit.
  5. The top three winners of IMWA 2015 in each industry category are NOT allowed to participate in IMWA 2017.
  6. Workers MUST have worked for at least two years for the company that nominates them
  7. Company that is interested to nominate their workers must comply with the followings:
    • Pay RM200 per nominee for registration fee.
    • Company must be operating their business in Sarawak in either timber, oil palm or constructions & manufacturing industries.
    • Company is in good standing (without any police records for abused of workers’ rights & good standing in the books of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia).
    • Employs at least 50 Indonesian migrant workers in Sarawak at the time the nomination is submitted. Supporting document is required as proof.

 

Evaluation of candidates

The participating candidates will be evaluated by the committee across 4 key areas and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed onsite:

  1. Discipline: punctuality at work & regulatory compliance
  2. Work: job knowledge & skills; productivity; initiative; improvement; innovation; creativity
  3. Personal; attitude; responsibility; communication skills; team work; respect for others; leadership; integrity etc
  4. Community involvement: in social activities; inspiring others to be a better member of the community; involvement in conflicts resolution; care for other people etc

Prizes:

  1. Three winners will be selected from each category industry with the following prize money: First prize @ RM12,000; 1st Runner-up @RM10,000 & 2nd Runner-up @RM7,000.
  2. One overal winner will be selected from across all categories of industries with an additional prize money of RM3,000.

Please note that the name of the companies where the winning workers are working with will also be recognised.

Terms and Conditions

Registration process is made available in two options. Online registration by directly fill in the online form, as well as by manually filling th edownload Registration Form and email them back to us. Chose one whichever more convenient to the participant.

  • Onsite renewal of passports refers to the Employer’s place of business operations where the workers are working.
  • Passport holders are required to fill up the application form for renewal of passport. Form can be obtained from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia.
  • Passport holder must have valid insurance policy.
  • Passport renewal application form AND supporting documents are to be received by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) at least one month prior to the scheduled onsite arrival date of staff of the KJRI.
  • Passport renewal can be done strictly between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018.
  • Any unused balance of passports to be renewed will not be able to be exchanged with monetary values and cannot be carried forward to the following calendar year.
  • Date of scheduled onsite visit is to be determined between the Employer and KJRI.
  • Onsite renewal of passport requires a minimum of 50 passports in order to optimise logistic cost & time.

The IMWA 2017 sub committee has done with all necessary selection process, to include the field visit to all 3 zones of Sibu, Bintulu and Miri. At the moment we are still working on the last Zone which encompasses area from Lundu, Kuching, Sri Aman, and Betong.

The Indonesian Migrant Workers Award 2017 will focus on workers who are working in the following industry sectors:

  1. Timber
  2. Oil Palm (both dowstream & upstream)
  3. Constructions & manufacturing industries



  1. Each of the 3 industries will have 3 winners with the following prize money:
    First @ RM12,000
    1st Runner-up @RM10,000
    2nd Runner-up @ RM7,000.

  2. One overal winner will be selected from across the industries with an additional prize money of RM3,000.
